I'm pretty amazed by what you succeed to do with TS3. I plan to built my own medieval hood on TS3, but just for playing purposes, now that I know that you can built your own community lots with rabbits holes. I have one question, though. I understand that you build every house and every sim in your hood. Does it happen that sims that you do not control buy modern stuff for their houses like cars or TV ? If so, how do you do to control it ?

No, they dont buy things by themselves. My playstyle is that I jump around among the families and change their clothes (mods help, you can redress them not playing each one) so that their clothing is more time appropriate. If you keep the downloaded custom clothing to things you want them to use, and make presets, they have a certain tendency to pick the presets - not always but at least sometimes.
